Lockett-Williams emphasizes that "no one should have to sacrifice dignity for cost," offering affordable funeral options alongside their full-service capabilities.
Lockett-Williams Mortuary, Inc. stands as one of Mississippi's oldest and most respected funeral service providers, with roots dating to 1948 when George W. Lockett opened the original downtown Gulfport location. The business survived a devastating fire in 1994 that destroyed the original facility, prompting owners Theodore and RoseMary Williams to rebuild at the current 5,200-square-foot corner location on 31st Avenue and 21st Street. The Williams family—both retired educators turned United Methodist pastors—purchased the mortuary in 1984 from Lockett's widow, carrying forward a legacy now spanning three generations. Their daughter Sonya Williams-Barnes joined in 1998 after completing mortuary science training, ensuring continuity for a business that has served the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 75 years.
