Lisle Funeral Home occupies the Swift Mansion, a Georgian Revival-style building constructed in 1905 by Harvey Swift, an early Fresno lumberman who invested $40,000 to $50,000—an extraordinary sum for the era. John N. Lisle purchased the property in 1932 after operating funeral homes in Sanger and acquiring the former Beal Brothers Funeral Home in Fresno. The mansion has served as a social hub for Fresno since its construction, hosting costume balls, birthday parties, church affairs, and other community events before becoming a funeral home.
The facility has expanded twice: the Calaveras Chapel was added in 1939, followed by the smaller Lisle Chapel in 1960. Today, Lisle Funeral Home continues to serve what it describes as the culturally diverse greater Fresno community with multi-faith funeral and cremation services.
