Thornhill Valley Chapel traces its roots to 1942, when Harold and Geneva Thornhill opened their original funeral home on Sprague Avenue in Spokane Valley. They operated from that location for over 25 years before relocating in 1969 to the current 1400 South Pines Road site, positioned next to Pines Cemetery. The business remained family-operated until 1999, when it joined the Dignity Memorial network while retaining its local identity.
The facility underwent significant expansion in 1993 with the addition of an on-site crematory and a second small chapel. A 2013 renovation introduced dedicated reception space for catered services. Throughout its history, Thornhill Valley Chapel has maintained community ties by hosting Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Day ceremonies, Chamber of Commerce events, musical rehearsals, and an annual holiday memorial service.
