The business traces its origins to 1893 when Will R. Sparkman began what would become a four-generation family operation. The Sparkman family purchased the original undertaking company in 1920, operated from the A.H. Belo Mansion for 50 years, and moved to the current North Dallas location in 1968. David L. Sparkman continues as the fourth generation of family leadership.
