We used the services of the SFCol when my Father-in-Law passed away. They are very respectful and professional. I one hundred percent recommend them.

The property comprises two distinct structures: the historic 1898 columbarium and the 2016 funeral home. The columbarium features a large rotunda, mosaic tile floors, ornate stained-glass windows, and a domed skylight. Four floors of intricate balconies surround the 45-foot atrium. The 2016 funeral home chapel seats approximately 70 guests and incorporates stained-glass windows and marble flooring that reference the columbarium's aesthetic. The facility is open seven days a week; office and cemetery visiting hours are Monday through Friday 9am–5pm, though phone support is available 24/7.
The funeral home specializes in customized celebrations of life, with capacity to execute elaborately themed events. Families can arrange complete funeral planning remotely without visiting the facility.
San Francisco Columbarium & Funeral Home occupies a singular position in the city's funeral landscape. The copper-domed, Neo-Classical columbarium—built in 1898 by British architect Bernard Cahill—stands as San Francisco's last remaining nondenominational place for memorializing cremated remains. The structure survived the 1906 earthquake and fire that leveled 80% of the city, one of few buildings to do so.
In 2016, the property expanded with the addition of San Francisco Funeral Home, a contemporary facility with a 70-seat chapel that echoes the columbarium's ornate aesthetic through stained-glass windows and marble flooring. The combined operation now offers families both historic gravitas and modern service capabilities, with the columbarium's four floors housing approximately 8,500 niches across three main halls: Hall of Olympians, Hall of Titans, and Hall of Heroes.
The location itself is notable—a residential cul-de-sac in the Richmond District, away from commercial corridors. The 45-foot atrium with domed skylight, mosaic tile floors, and intricate balconies makes the columbarium a documented San Francisco Designated Landmark, added to the register in 1996 after a 16-year restoration effort by the Neptune Society of Northern California.

My parents are happily together again at the SF Columbarium with all of their favorites. Crystal Hoffman is very responsive and accommodating.
The team had been great to work with. They held my hand through the whole process and made what would have been a difficult ordeal much more bearable. Alan and Gretchen were great.
I often what it would be like if my wife and I would complete our life cycle with your Columbarium. Thought it would be out of our reach. But “ GOD” hade other plans. Thank you All 🙏 ❤️
In this truly beautiful resting place, my dear father — who fled the war in our homeland and never found peace there — has finally found his eternal peace. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the staff of the columbarium for their warmth, care, patience, and calm sup...
