The ministry operates four distinct locations across the Spokane metropolitan area. The flagship Holy Cross Cemetery and Funeral at 7200 N. Wall Street encompasses nearly 77 acres with development across approximately 40 acres, serving as the area's official Catholic burial ground since 1931. The funeral home facility was added to this location in September 2013. Additional cemetery and funeral locations include Queen of Peace Cemetery and Funeral in south Spokane, St. Joseph Cemetery and Funeral in Spokane Valley, and the dedicated Holy Cross Funeral Home on North Division Street.
Holy Cross structures its services around the three distinct rites of Catholic funeral tradition: the Vigil & Visitation for gathering and remembrance, the Funeral Liturgy as the principal celebration of Mass with the body present, and the Committal for final interment with scripture and prayer.
Holy Cross Funeral and Cemetery Services operates as the only non-profit Catholic funeral provider in Spokane, guided by the Catholic Diocese of Spokane. The ministry traces its origins to February 1931, when Bishop Charles D. White established Holy Cross Cemetery as a non-profit Cemetery Association, with first interments that September. The organization replaced an 1889 agreement with Father Cataldo to become the area's official Catholic burial ground.
In 2013, the ministry expanded beyond cemetery services to include funeral and cremation services, creating a fully integrated operation where families can coordinate all arrangements—funeral, cremation, and burial—in a single visit. The organization underwent name changes from Catholic Cemeteries of Spokane to Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services in 2013, before becoming Holy Cross Funeral and Cemetery Services in 2019. Today the ministry operates four locations across Spokane and Spokane Valley, maintaining its non-profit status and diocesan oversight throughout.
