Meadowbrook Memorial & Cremation Gardens occupies 90 acres on Shoulders Hill Road in Suffolk, Virginia, distinguished by hand-sculpted Italian marble sourced from the same Carrara quarry Michelangelo used for his Pieta and David. Founded in 1960 by Roy Dudley with a $6,000 loan, the cemetery was developed with Mrs. Dudley serving as resident horticulturist, personally selecting and planting flowers, trees, and shrubs from Bennett's Creek Nursery.
The grounds feature multiple themed gardens including the Garden of Christ (the first and largest), the Cross Garden with matching Carrara marble provenance, and the Eternity Garden with a functional bronze sundial set in granite. The property's walkway system forms a cross shape at its center. Governor Mills Godwin served on the cemetery's early Board of Governors.
