Services
The funeral home occupies its historic downtown Tyler location, acquired in 1936 from the A.P. Moore Family and completely remodeled following a 1938 fire. As a privately owned small family business, operating hours flex based on family needs—families are advised to call ahead to confirm availability outside standard hours.
Services are arranged according to religious beliefs and family traditions, with licensed directors available to answer questions and provide General Price Lists, Casket Price Lists, and Burial Vault Price Lists upon request.
Jackson's Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors traces its origins to 1905, when businessmen James F. Walker, Henry Burks, and Judge Thomas Booker Butler established the funeral home in downtown Tyler. The operation moved to its present location at 215 E. Front Street in 1936, acquiring the building from the A.P. Moore Family. A pivotal fire in 1938 led to complete interior remodeling that same year.
Harold Jackson, who had worked in northeast Texas funeral service, entered the picture in 1971 by purchasing a partial ownership stake. Over subsequent years, he acquired all outstanding shares to become sole owner. Following Harold Jackson's death in February 2012, the business continues under the direction of his family—Renee Jackson and Greg Jackson—maintaining its status as a privately held, small family operation with flexible hours based on family needs.
The funeral home emphasizes its 24/7 availability and positions itself as a resource for families navigating arrangements, including assistance with insurance claims, Social Security, Veterans benefits, and pension funds after services conclude.
