The cemetery complex spans four distinct editions with varied character. The original Knights of Pythias section (1900) features mature tree canopy and historic grave markers. The Joyce Addition (1934) and subsequent expansions maintain landscaped grounds with configured garden sections. The 2017 Marion D. Williams IV Edition introduced organized garden areas: Garden of Serenity, Garden of Peace, and Garden of Reflections, with completed tree placement and designated bench rights. Columbarium facilities include a radial columbarium with octagonal cabinets and a dedicated Columbarium Garden Phase 1 with private estate designs (spaces 101-126).
The foundation operates on a pre-need and at-need sales model, with specific sections designated for ground-level monuments versus upright markers. All transactions require deed recording with a $50 processing fee.
Garland Mills Cemetery Association operates as a local non-profit foundation overseeing four historic cemeteries in Garland, Texas: Garland Memorial Park, Garland Mills Cemetery, the Garland Masonic Cemetery, and the Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Founded September 15, 1969 by interested citizens, the foundation assumed care of these properties with a mandate to use only income generated from its permanent fund for grounds maintenance.
The foundation's scope expanded significantly with property acquisitions and development. Garland Memorial Park grew from its original Joyce Addition (established 1934) through three major expansions, with the most recent—Garland Memorial Park III (Marion D. Williams IV Edition)—opening February 20, 2017 and adding over 2,000 available spaces. The foundation maintains strict governance: all board members are volunteers, directors are elected, and the organization holds bi-annual board meetings with an annual public forum.

I've had no problems. I have family and a few friends buried here. Some of the older graves in the back look neglected.
Very upset with this place. They drive all over my Sons resting place. The workers need to respect and instead of throwing away vases, flowers, Son sign that I had in a vase they need to not make it look messy by driving over. I even planted grass and they threw it away. Don’...
