Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East opened on January 30, 2017, as the first funeral home in El Paso to share grounds with its cemetery, allowing families to arrange funeral, cremation, and burial services at a single location. The facility sits on 95 acres of Evergreen Cemetery East, which dates to the 1960s and was created to serve the growing east side of the city beyond the capacity of the original 1800s cemetery.
The building features a contemporary design with natural light, stained-glass windows, and rustic wood beams that give the space what the operators describe as "Texas charm." The facility accommodates gatherings ranging from intimate family-only memorials to celebrations with hundreds of attendees. The staff speaks both English and Spanish.
Evergreen Cemetery East comprises mature Afghan pines, elm trees, and wildlife including rabbits, quail, and owls. The large footprint has accommodated large-scale services, including a law enforcement memorial with bagpipers and more than 50 officers.
