The adjacent Garden of Memories Cemetery offers lushly landscaped grounds with water features, artful statues, and diverse memorialization settings including an upright monument garden, double-depth lawn crypts, cremation gardens, and a columbarium. Cemetery hours are sunrise to sunset.

Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Garden of Memories Cemetery & Crematory traces its roots to 1933, when Pete and Mittie Elliott opened their first funeral home at North Second and Orange Streets in Abilene—an act considered bold during the Great Depression. The couple built their residence next to the funeral home to remain available to families at all hours. Their daughter Jo Ann Elliott continued the legacy, becoming one of only two women in her class at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. In 1958, she married fellow funeral director John Hamil, and together they constructed the current Highway 277 South location in 1974. John Hamil's vision of an adjacent cemetery became reality in 1996 with the opening of Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery & Crematory.
Today, the combined facility offers families seamless coordination between funeral services and final resting place arrangements on a single campus. The funeral home features modern, flexible gathering spaces, while the cemetery provides landscaped grounds with water features, artful statues, and multiple memorialization options including cremation gardens, columbaria, and custom family estates.
