The Palmetto Mortuary operates from a converted 50-year-old structure at 1122 Morrison Drive on the Charleston Peninsula—a location selected after what the founders describe as an extensive search. The business was incorporated in South Carolina on July 12, 2005, following a six-year planning period that began in 1999 when Israel M. Broderick, Benjamin Z. Singleton, and Marc J. Richardson committed to establishing what they termed 'a first-class funeral home' with service level as its distinguishing characteristic.
The founders adopted two mottos: 'Hallmark of Excellence' and the Latin phrase 'Palma Sub Pondere Crescit' ('The Difficulties Only Make Us Stronger'). The operation is explicitly designed to accommodate families across social and financial standings, religions, and ethnicities. The facility offers guided tours to individuals, church groups, civic organizations, and student groups as part of its public education effort.
If I could give 0 stars I would. My step dad passed away 24 hours from home, the very next morning we went to this funeral home. I paid IN FULL to have him cremated and sent home, along with 5 copies of his death certificate. It took 2 months and many phone calls to get him sent ...
