Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Homes traces its roots to founder Russell J. Boyle, who got his start in funeral service at age 10 opening limousine doors at the former Chisholm Funeral Home. He eventually became what the company describes as the premier embalmer in Rhode Island, handling embalming and directing for more than a dozen funeral homes before purchasing the Chisholm Home himself. For 22 years, Boyle also served on the Providence City Council, including seven years as council president. His son, Thomas C. Boyle, began his funeral service career at 16 and took over after his father's death in 2002.
Today the funeral home operates two locations—331 Smith Street in Providence and 142 Centerville Road in Warwick—serving families across Rhode Island for more than six decades. The Providence location sits a half-mile west of the Rhode Island State House in the heart of the city, built specifically to accommodate both large gatherings and intimate services.
