A new 14,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is currently under construction in West Philadelphia.

Terry Funeral Home has operated continuously in Philadelphia since December 1938, when founder Paul S. Terry, Sr. transferred operations from Pleasantville, New Jersey. The business evolved into a family partnership in 1947 when his wife Francis E. Terry joined, followed by sons Paul S. Terry Jr. (1960) and Thompson T. Terry (1967) who together built the firm's reputation under their motto, "Building Business on the Basis of Merit." Since March 2000, Gregory T. Burrell has served as President and CEO, continuing the tradition while expanding the business—revenues doubled from $1 million to $2 million within three years of his leadership.
The funeral home has earned distinction through its service to prominent African-American leaders and historical figures. Services conducted include Ethel Hedgemon Lyle, founder of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (1950); civil rights activist and athlete Paul Robeson (1975); Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander, first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. in the United States (1989); former U.S. Congressman Hon. Lucien Blackwell (2003); and former U.S. Congressman and House Majority Whip Hon. William H. Gray (2013). This legacy has established Terry Funeral Home as one of Pennsylvania's most respected funeral establishments.
