B.J. Meyer Sons Funeral Home traces its origins to 1884, when Ben Meyer founded Meyer’s Exchange and Livery Service in East Price Hill, boarding horses and building horse-drawn hearses. The family transitioned into funeral service after Ben Meyer obtained his funeral director and embalmer license in the early 1900s following a two-day seminar at Cincinnati's Sinton Hotel. The business has operated continuously for over 130 years, moving from 3747 Warsaw Avenue to 3726 Warsaw (the Colonial Funeral Home) in 1923, then expanding to Glenway Avenue in 1950.
The current Bridgetown location at 5864 Bridgetown Road opened March 2, 2002, purpose-built by Greg Meyer in 2000 as a modern funeral facility while preserving the original Victorian-style house for offices and arrangement rooms. Gregory A. Meyer, the fourth-generation owner, has directed operations since 1973. The facility serves Bridgetown, Dent, Harrison, Delhi, Price Hill, Western Hills, Green Township, Westwood, Cheviot, North Bend, Cleves, Taylor Creek, and Miami Township.
