Wulff Funeral Home holds the distinction of being the oldest continuing business on St. Paul's east side, tracing its origins to 1884 when August Wulff, a 24-year-old German immigrant cabinet maker, began crafting caskets and transporting them by horse-drawn wagonâor sleigh in winterâfrom his home at East 7th and Bradley Avenue. The operation has remained in continuous family ownership through four generations, with each successor expanding the business's reach while maintaining its founding commitment to the community.
The funeral home relocated to its current address at 1485 White Bear Avenue in 1964, adopting the name Crestwood Park Mortuary for the new facility. Under Gregory Wulff's leadership starting in 1970, the family acquired Godbout Mortuary on West 7th Street in 1988 and constructed Woodlane Mortuary in 1990. Today the business operates as part of the Dignity Memorial network while preserving its local identity and community focus.
The facility serves St. Paul's diverse east side population with multilingual capabilities and specialized programming for veterans, including Level Four Founding Community Partner status with We Honor Veterans.
