Tazzini Funeral Home & Cremation Services has occupied its 22 Locust Street location in Springfield's South End since 1931, when George B. and Rose E. Tazzini, Sr. founded the business to serve their community. The facility has expanded from its original footprint to include a large chapel with seating for 160 guests, ample off-street parking, and full handicap accessibility. The location sits convenient to Interstate 91, local lodging, places of worship, and cemeteries.
The family business structure has remained intact through multiple generations. George B. Tazzini, Jr. joined his parents in the operation, and in the 1990s, Christine M. Tazzini and Joseph F. Pasternak, III came aboard—maintaining independence while many Springfield-area funeral homes sold to national corporate entities. George B. Tazzini, III returned from Mystic, Connecticut in 2018 to join full-time. Today, Managing Directors George III and Joe Pasternak handle daily operations, continuing the founder's approach of personally serving each family.
The business emphasizes its distinction as a family-owned operation rather than a "family-named and out-of-state conglomerate owned" competitor. Staff are available 24/7/365, recognizing that funeral planning cannot always happen during regular business hours.
