Waterman Langone Chapel stands as one of Boston's most enduring funeral establishments, with origins dating to 1832 when Joseph Samson Waterman and cabinet maker John Seaver founded what would become the first building in the United States constructed exclusively for funeral services. The firm relocated to Kenmore Square in 1921 and remained under four generations of Waterman family management until 1990.
In 2005, the funeral home merged with Joseph A. Langone Jr. Funeral Home, a North End institution founded in the late 1800s by Italian immigrant Joseph (Giuseppe) A.
