Forest Park Cemetery has served the Shreveport and Bossier City communities since 1917, making it one of Louisiana's oldest and largest cemetery properties. The 134-acre grounds contain more than 35,000 interments, reflecting over a century of regional history. Located at 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, the cemetery offers families a range of memorialization options including above-ground mausoleums, traditional in-ground grave sites, cremation monuments, and dedicated family sections.
The cemetery's founding by C.W. Hughes and Stephen W. Griffith of Marshalltown, Iowa, was later stabilized by the Rasberry family, local Shreveport residents who purchased the property during the Great Depression. Their vision emphasized balancing natural surroundings with maintained grounds, creating what they described as a 'romantic setting' that accommodated civilization without overwhelming the landscape.
