The St. Matthews location has undergone significant modernization while maintaining its 1951 character. The 2001 renovation expanded functionality with a new lounge, additional visitation room, and enhanced restroom facilities. Recent redecorating has refreshed interior spaces, and front porch renovations are currently underway. The facility positions itself as a 'second home' environment designed for peace, comfort, and warmth.
Pearson emphasizes transparent communication with upfront pricing and step-by-step guidance through every decision.
Pearson Funeral Home stands as Louisville's longest-serving funeral establishment, with a lineage stretching back to 1847. The family dynasty produced industry pioneers: Edward C. Pearson held Kentucky's first embalmer's license and designed the original wood-paneled hearse, later adapting it to become Louisville's first motor-driven funeral vehicle in the early automotive era.
The current Breckenridge Lane location in St. Matthews has served as the firm's anchor since 1951, just one year after the city's incorporation. After the Pearson family sold their original Third Street home in 1978, this became the company's headquarters. A significant 2001 renovation added a new lounge, visitation room, additional restrooms, and improved parking to the 50-year-old facility.
In 2011, the Pearson era concluded when Larry Robbins, John Keith, and Roy Keith Jr. purchased the business. Robbins brought nearly four decades of funeral industry experience, while the Keiths arrived from their established memorial and monument background known for quality craftsmanship and personalization. Recent updates include redecorated visitation rooms and ongoing front porch renovations.
