The 1970-built funeral home underwent major renovations in 2002 and 2012, expanding viewing rooms, adding an event room, updating furniture and carpeting, and refreshing restrooms. The chapel features cushioned wooden pews seating 180 with foyer overflow space, a dedicated flower display wall, organ, and modern audio system. Five staterooms and three arrangement rooms provide flexibility for multiple families. The reception space accommodates 80 guests for catered events. The facility also displays a notable art collection including limited-edition Remington bronze and crystal statues from the former owner's personal collection.
Resthaven accommodates approximately 500 funerals annually with a focus on personalization, from displaying a painter's artwork at their memorial to organizing classic car processions for collectors.
Resthaven Mortuary & Gardens of Memory has served West Wichita families from its location at 11800 West Highway 54 since 1958, when founder Hap Bledsoe established the cemetery in what was then a wheat field. The 10,000-square-foot brick funeral home opened in 1970 on the southwest corner of the cemetery grounds, creating an integrated campus where families can arrange funerals, cremations, and burials without traveling between locations.
The property stands out for its museum-quality memorial art scattered across 119 acres of landscaped grounds. The cemetery features flush-to-the-ground bronze markers throughout, creating a park-like atmosphere maintained by a two-well irrigation system. With approximately 65 of 119 acres currently developed, the cemetery has substantial capacity for future generations.

Mortuary is great, but the cemetery is very poor. When my parents purchased their plots it had beautiful grass and was very well maintained! Now it’s nothing but weeds and poorly maintained!!
