Built in 1978, the 3100 F Avenue NW location replaced the original 1936 converted residence. The building contains two separate chapels for funeral services, a dedicated merchandise room for casket and urn selection, private arrangement offices for family consultations, and the Monarch Room—a versatile first-floor community space accommodating up to 165 people for post-service receptions or standalone gatherings.
Teahen structures its service model around multi-generational relationship building, with staff emphasizing personalized attention across religious and cultural traditions.
Teahen Funeral Home traces its Cedar Rapids roots to January 1936, when Henry and Marian Teahen converted their family residence at 600 First Avenue NW into a funeral home. After Henry's death in 1966, Marian continued the business with their son, Peter R. Teahen, until the pair constructed the current facility at 3100 F Avenue NW in 1978. Marian remained active in operations until her death in 2007.
The funeral home now enters its ninth decade under third-generation leadership. Peter R. Teahen and his daughter, Elizabeth M. Teahen, direct operations together, maintaining the family-owned structure established 89 years ago. Their service territory spans Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities including Marion, Fairfax, Hiawatha, Palo, Atkins, Swisher, Robins, and Center Point.
The F Avenue facility houses two spacious chapels, a merchandise selection room, arrangement offices, and the Monarch Room—a first-floor community space configurable for receptions and gatherings.
