The 175-acre property features multiple gathering spaces across its historic landscape. Three chapels provide options for services of varying sizes, from the intimate 1895 Chapel of the Woods to the modern Gardenview Chapel. The Gardenview Mausoleum complex incorporates the 55-foot carillon bell tower as a focal point. Family estates can be customized with stained glass, benches, and landscaping. The grounds include a reflecting pool outside Bohn Chapel, installed in 1972 on the site of a former historic lake. The iron gate entrance and fence, completed in 1884, remains a notable architectural feature.
Lindenwood Cemetery accommodates multicultural funeral traditions including dedicated Jewish cemetery sections. Families can arrange services entirely by phone or email with electronic signature capability.
Lindenwood Cemetery has served Fort Wayne families since opening to the public on May 30, 1860. The cemetery occupies 175 acres on West Main Street, making it one of the largest cemeteries in Indiana with more than 72,000 interments. The grounds hold particular historical significance as the final resting place for almost all of Fort Wayne's founding fathers, plus hundreds of Civil War veterans including soldiers from the Union Army's Allen County contingent.
Three distinct chapels provide spaces for interment services and gatherings. The Chapel of the Woods, built in 1895, remains in active use. Bohn Chapel, dedicated in 1967 and named for former president Frank E. Bohn, hosts most of the cemetery's interment services and features a reflecting pool built in 1972. The newest addition, Gardenview Chapel, opened in 2007. The property's 55-foot Schulmerich Carillon bell tower, erected in 1977, serves as a community landmark.
The cemetery operates as part of the Dignity Memorial network and offers a 100% service guarantee, with refunds available for any service portion that fails to meet agreed expectations.
