The Watkins staff if very professional and attentive. Unfortunately, we have had to deal with them a lot but the service is always A'1. Mr Watkins is the best.

Willie A. Watkins operates four chapel locations and one dedicated events facility. The Historic West End Chapel at 1003 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW serves as the flagship location in a Tudor-style mansion with residential interior design. Additional chapels are located in Douglasville (8312 Dallas Hwy), Carrollton (602 Newnan Rd), and Riverdale (6580 Church St). The Special Events Center at 5843 Redan Rd in Lithonia provides dedicated space for larger gatherings and community events.
The funeral home emphasizes personalized ceremonies framed as celebrations of life rather than mourning of loss, with flexibility to accommodate religious, cultural, and secular preferences.
Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home opened December 7, 1982 in a converted craftsman-style home in Atlanta's Historic West End, purchased by founder Willie Watkins at age 29 after financing the venture through his A. Watkins Limo Service. The operation has since expanded to four chapel locations across metro Atlanta plus a dedicated Special Events Center in Lithonia. The original West End location retains its residential characterâmarble floors, crystal chandeliers, live birds in large cages, and a grand pianoâdesigned to feel more like a fine arts gallery than a conventional funeral home.
Watkins, a 1970 graduate of Gupton Jones Mortuary College and licensed funeral director since 1971, personally attends most services conducted by his staff regardless of whether he knew the deceased. The funeral home now serves more than 800 families annually, making it Atlanta's busiest mortuary. Watkins phones every family personally to offer condolences and presents a memorial plaque at each service.
