The 601 N. California St. location houses two distinct chapels: a large chapel with traditional wooden bench seating and a smaller chapel with flexible seating configurations. The facility includes dedicated reception space for post-service gatherings and meeting space available for corporate and organization use. Street parking is available around the downtown location.
DeYoung Memorial Chapel emphasizes personalized service design, working with families to incorporate favorite songs, personal passions and meaningful details into singular memorial experiences.
DeYoung Memorial Chapel traces its roots to 1888 when James Ford opened his "undertaking establishment" at 117 S. Center St. in downtown Stockton. The business moved to its current location at 601 N. California St. in 1937, where it has remained for more than 80 years across four generations of family ownership before joining the Dignity Memorial network in 2014.
Today the chapel operates two Stockton locations: the historic downtown chapel convenient to Interstates 5, Highway 4 and Highway 99, and DeYoung Shoreline Chapel at 7676 Shoreline Drive—still the only funeral home in North Stockton since its 1990 opening. The downtown location offers ample street parking and proximity to San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery and Stockton Rural Cemetery.
The facility features two on-site chapels: a large chapel with wooden benches and a smaller flexible-seating chapel, plus reception space for catered gatherings ranging from coffee and tea to full lunch or dinner service.

The staff of De Young Memorial Chapel were professional, empathetic and very organized. It was a pleasure working together for a beautiful memorial for our mother. It had a “ woman’s touch « that made a difference.
All of the staff at de Young memorial are amazing. I would recommend them to anybody. They are so helpful in helping with all of the difficulties of the passing of a loved one.
