Stewart's Rose Manor accepts cash, cashier's check, money orders, insurance policies (minimum two years old), and most pre-arrangement trust and burial plans. Itemized General Price List available at the funeral home. Prices subject to change.
The facility comprises two distinct buildings. The primary building houses two chapels—the Main Chapel with capacity for 300 guests and a Small Chapel seating 60-80—along with slumber/visitation rooms and family rooms described as elegant, comfortable, and spacious. A secondary building functions as a multi-purpose space displaying caskets and urns from three major manufacturers, serving as family arrangement and counseling office, and operating as a reception center for post-service gatherings. The reception area accommodates up to 50 people with catering allowed (food prepared off-site).
Stewart's Rose Manor structures pricing with transparent itemization and offers discounts for package combinations, including a $1,000 ceremony discount when caskets are purchased on-site.
Stewart's Rose Manor Funeral Service has operated from its Richmond location for over six decades, founded by the late John R. Stewart and now owned and operated by his daughter, Lydia Stewart. The funeral home maintains its founding principle of providing complete and dignified service at competitive prices. John R. Stewart was a recognized community leader who served as president of both the National and California Funeral Director's and Embalmer's Associations, received a Certificate of Honor as a Richmond Pioneer from the City of Richmond, and held affiliations including life membership in the NAACP and 33rd Degree Mason status. Lydia Stewart assumed ownership in 1997 upon her father's passing, bringing educational credentials from UC Berkeley, UCLA graduate studies, and USF School of Law, plus prior experience teaching English and performing arts in West Contra Costa and Los Angeles school districts.
