The funeral home underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2012, modernizing all spaces while maintaining its role as a non-denominational facility serving diverse faith traditions.
The property functions as both active funeral home and public park—locals visit to walk, read, and enjoy the grounds. The cemetery maintains over 70 acres as undeveloped native habitat for wildlife, with 45 acres currently developed for interment. Joe B. Cockrill, who served as president from 1951 to 1980, shaped the institution's early decades; he later became president of the National Association of Cemeteries in 1969 and held leadership roles in the Cremation Association of America. A monument memorializing his contributions stands on the grounds.
