Two chapels provide flexibility: the main chapel offers traditional pew seating for approximately 125 guests, while a smaller chapel provides flexible seating configurations for up to 75. Funeraria del Angel South Lawn occupies a distinctive position in Tucson's funeral landscape. Built in 1979 as South Lawn Mortuary on the grounds of the historic South Lawn Cemetery (established 1936), it became one of Tucson's first integrated cemetery-mortuary operations. The Spanish-influenced architecture reflects its deep roots in the Hispanic community, a focus that intensified in 2007 when it joined the Jardines y Funerarias del Angel network linking locations across the Southwest and Puerto Rico.
The 85-acre cemetery sits beneath the Santa Catalina Mountains, with over 17,000 interments since the mid-1930s. The funeral home's bilingual team has performed thousands of services for Hispanic families, offering extended visitation hours and in-home visitation options. Their expertise extends to international repatriation services and culturally specific traditions—from elaborate DĂa de los Muertos celebrations featuring altar contests and processions to cowboy funerals with horse-drawn hearses and saddled horses in procession.
