Services
The funeral home features a large-capacity chapel accommodating 150+ guests, multiple visitation spaces, and a dedicated coffee lounge. Behind the main building lies the memorial garden—a permanent remembrance space created for families whose loved ones are buried elsewhere or whose ashes were scattered far from Arizona. The facility offers meeting space for corporate and organizational use in addition to funeral services.
Thompson Funeral Chapel emphasizes personalized memorials that capture "the essence of your loved one," from barbecue-themed celebrations of life to quiet garden scattering ceremonies.
Thompson Funeral Chapel traces its roots to 1957, when Don Cannon founded Cannon Funeral Home in downtown Avondale. Seven years later, in 1964, he relocated to the current Litchfield Road address in Goodyear, establishing what would become the city's only funeral home. Sean and Cynthia Thompson purchased the business in 2005, renaming it Thompson Funeral Chapel and operating it for nearly two decades before joining the Dignity Memorial network in 2024.
The facility occupies a prominent position just south of I-10, combining modern amenities with touches of traditional hospitality—including a coffee bar serving freshly baked cookies and lattes. The chapel seats more than 150 guests for visitations and memorial services, with spaces designed to blend "past and present" in an elegant yet inviting atmosphere.
As the exclusive funeral provider in Goodyear, Thompson Funeral Chapel serves a broad swath of Maricopa County, including Avondale, Buckeye, Glendale, Litchfield Park, Peoria, Phoenix, Sun City, Surprise, Tolleson, and Waddell.
